Have you ever had one of those weeks where you could just feel God moving? Almost like everywhere you went you could feel his presence right there with you? I have to admit, I don’t always feel that way, but this week it has been stronger than most. Truthfully, there are many times I don’t feel him at all. I began pondering that today, thinking why this week? Why more now? Well, to be honest, I am not the best at taking time to pray or really taking time to sit in his presence, but this week I have been doing more of that. It’s really a simple concept isn’t it? The more we look for him, the more we will see him. The more we sit and seek his presence the more we will feel it. Although that isn’t always the way it works. I think sometimes we don’t see or feel him because other things are blocking our view… Things like bitterness, anger, resentment, worry, addictions, or sadness. I think we even sometimes blame God for the situations we are in or we at the least blame him for allowing us to be in them.
This leads me to some news that I wanted to share with you this week. My song Fail-Safe is going for adds on Christian Rock and Christian CHR stations this month and this made me remember why I wrote it. During the writing process, I was going through a time in my life where I was definitely doubting God. Not only did I doubt him, but I think I kind of blamed him for what I was going through. Then for the final song of the album I was sent this amazing music from a writer, Rob Tate, and I started asking God, what should this final song say? The word “Fail-Safe” kept coming to my mind over and over. I truthfully didn’t even know what it meant so I went and looked it up. While it had several definitions the one that really stood out to me was “Guaranteed NOT to fail, free from danger or risk” (The Free Dictionary). While people can obviously fail us at times, God never does! He is our father, our protector, and our friend. Let me emphasize, this doesn’t mean that bad things won’t ever happen in our lives, but it does mean that God knows and he will always work it out for our good. He is our fail-safe! Jeremiah 33:3 sums this up best, “For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope!”
I pray this week that no matter what situation you find yourselves in that you begin to seek God like never before. That you cry out to him and give over to him everything that binds you. I pray that you come to a new realization that Jesus is your Fail-Safe and that his is ALWAYS there and ALWAYS will be.
Sorry for the long email!! In excitement of “Fail-Safe” going for radio adds, I am giving away the single for 24 hours. Just go to http://www.tunecore.com/widgets/show/64450 and click on “FREE SONG”.
